Abstract

Poor air quality is a major problem in big cities that many industrial and with traffic jam. Peoples who work directly related to air pollution, most likely the harmful substances accumulate in the blood than peoples who are not directly related to air pollution. Supporting examination that can be used to establish the diagnosis of disease one of which is examination of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The purpose of this examination was to describe whether an increase of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) on bus driver at Sation of Surakarta. The study was conducted at Hematology Laboratory of Setia Budi University Surakarta. Research time was conducted in December 2015-January 2016. The samples of examination were 30 bus drivers who work in Station of Surakarta. Examination of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) levels by Westergren method, then the data were analyzed descriptively. From the results it can be concluded that the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) levels of 30 samples that was 20 samples as 66.67% shows increase of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and 10 samples was 33.33% in the normal range.
