Abstract
Formalin is a dangerous substance when added to the food. This research aims to determine whether the salted fish coming from two collectors in the Pasar Gedhe Surakarta containing formalin and how the levels of formalin in salted fish using Schiff reagent with spectrophotometry UV - Vis. Sample extraction process is done by using a simple distillation method is then performed using formalin identification Schiff reagent. Then assayed using spectrophotometry UV-Vis. The results showed that the salted fish came from two collectors in the Pasar Gedhe Surakarta does not containing formalin with Schiff reagent.
