Abstract
Chloramphenicol is one type of antibiotic amfenikol derivative which is naturally produced by Streptomyces venezuelae. The purpose of this study was to determine the production and the effect of variations bases of cetyl alcohol and and propilenglycol in production of chloramphenicol cream to physical quality test and stability test. In cream preparation divided into 3 formulas with variation different bases of cetyl alcohol and propilenglycol. Formula 1 (2g:8g), formula 2 (3g:7g), formula 3 (4g:6g). Creams that had been made conducted the physical quality test as follows: organoleptic, viscosity, dispersive, adhesion, pH, and type of cream. The test results can be analyzed using One Way Anova followed by Tukey's test with confidence levels of 95%. The results showed that chloramphenicol cream could be made cream preparation using variation bases of cetyl alcohol and propilenglycol and could meet the physical quality test and stability test. Based on the results formula 3 (4g:6g) had good physical quality with high viscosity, low dispersive and high adhesive than formula 1 (2g:8g) and formula 2 (3g:7g).
