Abstract
Fasting blood glucose is one of the indicator that a person is diagnosed diabetes mellitus. Fasting blood glucose exceeding ≥ 126 is categorized that a person is diagnosed diabetes mellitus. Patients with diabetes mellitus have fat and carbohydrate metabolism disorder that can affect blood glucose levels and fat in the body. This research is intended to observe if there is a correlation between fasting blood glucose with Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol level and High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol in diabetes mellitus patients type 2. This research uses an observational analytic, research design with crosssectional approach. Using secondary data taken from Purwokerto Islamic Hospital with 73 samples of diabetes melitus patients. This research was conducted from April to June 2018. Statistical analysis was performed by using Pearson’s correlation test. Correlation analysis of fasting blood glucose with low density lipoprotein were found to be significantly low in diabetics The results of this study showed significant positive correlation between fasing blood glucose with low density lipoprotein cholesterol (r = 0,283 p = 0,015) and showed significant negative corelation between fasting blood glucose with high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( r = -0,381 p = 0,001). Further research is needed with diffrent variable for knowing the other effect caused by diabetes mellitus for example ureum and creatinine.
