Abstract

Effective communication is a part of a communication that occurs inside an office or an organization. This case can be occurred between employee to employee, employee to leader, and leader to leader. A communication that occurs between a laboratory staff and nurse is one of the important aspects that support the validity of a result, it means that the result validity is not only orientated to the result which can be obtained from a certain tool, but it is also orientated by the effective communication between staff. The objective of the study of this research is to explore the connection of the effective communication between staff of the health care worker toward the validity of the urine examination in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The method used in this research was purposive sampling. The samples were 65 respondents of RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta including laboratory staff and nurse. The analysis techniques used a correlation testing of product moment pearson. The finding of the study showed there was a significant level (p < 0.01) between the effective communication variable with the result with correlation coefficient (r) for 0.462. The average result from respondents of effective communication in the research was included to the moderate category with a percentage of 58.5%. The average result occurred from the validity of the result of urine examination was included to the moderate category with percentage of 75.4%.
