Abstract

Breast cancer (Carcinoma mammae) is a malignant tumor that develops from breast cells. Breast cancer commonly occurs in women and is the mostly occurring cancer in Indonesia. Histopathological image is an important parameter and gold standard in breast cancer diagnosis. Many factors contribute to this disease, one of which is age factor. One of eight invasive breast malignancies is found in women under 45 years old. Two-thirds of invasive breast malignancies is found in women at the age of 55. This study is carried out in order to investigate the profile of breast cancer incidence based on breast cancer histopathological type and patients age. This research applied descriptive-quantitative method with cross-sectional design. Secondary data were obtained from medical records, histopathological examination results of patients with breast cancer at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital from January to December 2015. A total of 360 samples were used. The results indicate that the most common histopathological type of cancer found in this research is Invasive carcinoma of no special type (NST) (86.1%). The largest number of breast cancer sufferers is at the age of 40-49 (33.6%). Invasive carcinoma of no special type (NST) most likely occurs in patients at the age of 40-49 (102 patients of 28.3%). In conclusion, most patients with breast cancer have histopathological profile of Invasive Carcinoma of No Special Type (NST) and are 40-49 years old.
