Abstract
The purpose of the research was to determine the total phenolic levels of ethyl acetate extract and dichloromethane-ethyl acetate fraction from bark mundu (Garcinia dulcis. Kurz) with comparison of total phenolic levels. This phenolic structure has a hydroxyl (-OH) that is bounded to the aromatic rings. Bark mundu was extracted by maceration with solvent of n-heksan an then with ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate extract was fractionated by vacuum coloumn chromatography. The total phenolic levels was determination by visible spectrophotometry with Folin Ciocalteau resgent. The principle of this method was the formation of complex compounds, which was blue from phosphomolybdate-phosphotungsthat whict was reduced. By phenolic compounds that it could be measured by spectophotometry. The gallic acid was used as a standart. The result showed that the levels of phenol in ethyl acetate extracts of bark mundu was 1,4998 mgGAE/100mg, and the fraction of dichloromethane-ethyl acetate is 0,5545 mgGAE/100mg. It could be concluded that ethyl acetate extract of bark mundu has total phenolic levels higher than the fraction of dichloromethane-ethyl acetate.
