Abstract
The circumstances which an increase in blood uric acid levels above normal was called hyperuricemia. High levels of serum uric acid can cause gout. This study aimed to determine the activity antihiperurisemia and effective dose of ethyl acetate fraction of the ethanol extract of the herb meniran on leghorn cock. This study uses five groups of cock and feed induced high in purines (raw chicken liver juice 100% w/v) for 1 week. Treatment was given for 7 days, uric acid levels checked at all treatment groups on day 0, 7, and 14. Group I as a control hyperuricemia (CMC 0.5% 5 ml/kg), group II as dosage comparison (allopurinol 9.33 mg/kg), group III given ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of the herb meniran dose of 3.91 mg/kg, group IV given ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of the herb meniran dose 7.82 mg/kg, and group V given ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of the herb meniran dose 11.73 mg/ kg. The data obtained were analyzed by one way ANOVA (significant p <0.05). The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of the herb meniran have antihiperurisemia activity. Based on statistical analysis, there were no significant differences between the groups ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of herbs meniran and dosage comparison (allopurinol 9.33 mg/ kg). When viewed from the percent decrease in the levels of uric acid, ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of the herb meniran dose 7.82 mg/kg showed a greater decline.
