Abstract

Manifestations of histamine on skin diseases released by mast cell degranulation. Through intradermal injection, histamine can cause an inflammatory response in the form of triple responses is rash, wheal due to increased permeability and flare due to local vasodilation. Phaleria (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl) leaf contain saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids and polyphenols that can give the effect of antihistamines. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the antihistamine, and the increased influence of the concentration of extract in the cream of phaleria (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl) leaf extract in rabbits induced histamine hydrochloride. This study of experimental research. Rabbits in induction histamine dihydrochloride solution intradermally on dorsal of rabbits previously smeared cream phaleria leaf extract and the occlusion 20 minutest. At minute 30 measurements the mean wheal with planimetri and flare visually. The results of this study showed that the cream and phaleria leaf extracts has the effect of antihistamines was able to reduce the wheal and flare lowered. And an increase in the concentration of the extract in cream (5%, 10%, 20%), able to enhance the effect of antihistamines with the result mean wheal diameter (10,25; 6,88; 3,88 mm) and a mean score of flares (2,58; 2,23; 2,03).
