Abstract

Yellow kepok stem of banana leaf (Musa paradisiaca L.) is is a traditional medicine that has been used by the public, because it is useful to help turn the electrolyte, porous bones, It also helps heal inflammation of mucous membranes of the eyes, burning sores, fever parturition. The goal in this study to determine whether the stem of banana leaf extracts have antibacterial activity of yellow kepok against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Galenik preparations in the form of extracts obtained by means of maceration kepok stem of banana leaf powder yellow with solvent ethanol 96%, followed by concentration so obtained extract thick, next will be tested against the antibacterial activity of bacteria Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 concentration dilution method with 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25%, 3,125% 1,5625%,%, 0,7812%, 0,3906%, 0,1953% of the positive control and negative control. The results of this study showed that extracts the stem of banana leaf kepok yellow (Musa paradisiaca L.) has a less effective antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. This is seen in the stem of banana leaf extract KBM kepok yellow (Musa paradisiaca L.) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 is of 100%. KHM results cannot be determined because the stem of banana leaf extract kepok yellow cloudy, so it can't be seen or no growth of bacteria on the extract.
