Abstract
Quality is important for companies to increase productivity, competitiveness and to gain maximum benefit. CV. Bonjor Jaya is a metal casting and machining company. Its main product is pulley. Product defects pulley in CV.Bonjor Jaya as much as 10%. Product defect caused by several factors such as human, processing, materials, environment, tools and machinery. The main factors of a product defects is related to the process of mixing, pouring (volume of material), and the dismantling of each pulley. The purpose of this study is to get the optimum combination of process level to reduce the total defects pulley. This study used the Taguchi method with two levels for each factor. Results of experiments and processing using the Taguchi method shows the stirring process runs for 80 minutes, the volume of each pulley is 17 kg and the process of dismantling runs for 150 minutes. The average value of the product defect as much as 1.25 pulley Taguchi experiment with the value of the ratio S / N -3.57995 dB. In the experimental condition confirmation shows the average value of 0.8 pulley and the value of the ratio S / N 0.9691 dB. In optimum conditions total of defects pulley to 2.67%.
