Abstract

The decrease memory is one of the causes of free radicals. Muntingia calabura L leaves contains flavonoid that has the potential to repair the oxidative damage caused by free radicals, so it is consider can improve memory. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of Kersen leaves infusion and instant powder of Muntingia calabura L leaves in improving memory. This research uses Morris water maze method is divided into 6 groups, group one normal control, group 2 negative control infusion, group 3 negative control of instant powder,group 4 positive control, group 5 infusion dose 130 mg / kg BB mice, group 6 instant powder dose 210 mg / kg BB mice. Each group is given aquisition trial stage for 5 days, after that will be given ethanol induction 10% for 3 days then reinforced to see the decrease memory, then treated for 10 days and reinvented to see decrease in latency time after treatment. To see the difference in percentage of memory increase, statistical analysis was conducted uses one way anova and continued by post hoc tuckey to see whether there is difference of both avaibility. The results obtained showed that kersen leaf infusion and instant powder of Muntingia calabura L leaves had the ability to improve the memory of micewith the percentage increase of 52.35% and 40,23%. the avaibility of Infusion is not significantly different than the availability of instant powder.
