Abstract
Triglyceride is fat found in the blood and stored in fat tissue. Alternative to reduce triglyceride level is the use of natural materials, i.e. pheasant pepper fruit (Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Persoon). The aim of this study was to find out the effect of pheasant pepper fruit extract on triglyceride level, the effective dose, and the effect to weight abdominal fat in male white mouse. The study consisted 30 male white mice into 6 treatment groups, i.e. group I (normal), group II (drugs) was given gemfibrozil suspension of 10.8 mg / 200g BW, group III (hypertriglyceridemia) was given CMC 1%, group IV; V; VI were given pheasant pepper fruit extract 100; 200; 400 mg/kg BW, respectively. The triglyceride level was measured by taking the blood serum of the test animals through opthalmic sinus at day-7th, day-14th, and day-21st. The statistical analysis used Wilk Shapiro. The result of this study showed that krangean fruit extract had an antihypertriglyceridemia effect at effective dose of 400 mg/kg BW and had reducing effect of abdominal fat approaching group of drugs.
