Abstract

Inflammation is a normal protective response to tissue injury which caused by physical trauma, chemicals destroyer, or microbiological substances. The purpose of this study was to determine anti-inflammatory effects cream of phaleria leaf (Phaleria macrocarpa) ethanol extract. Phaleria (Phaleria macrocarpa) was extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96%. Cream preparation was made into 3 formulas with different extract concentrations i.e. 5%, 10%, and 20%. The obtained creams were tested the anti-inflamatory and the stability of quality and physical for 1 month, including organoleptic test, cream type, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersive, and adhesion. Data was analyzed by kolmogorov smirnov analysis, followed by one way ANOVA test and then Post Hoc test. The result of the study showed that phaleria leaf (Phaleria macrocarpa) extract could be made into cream preparation which has anti-inflammatory effect. Cream with extract concentrations of 20% is statistically has the most effective anti-inflamatory effect. Keywords: anti-inflammatory, cream, phaleria leaf ethanol extract
