Abstract

Leaves zodia (Evodia sauveolens, Scheff) is a plant that is empirically efficacious as antimicrobials. Zodia leaf chemical constituents are essential oils, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. This study was conducted to activity fraction of n-hexane, chloroform, water from ethanolic extracts of leaves zodia (Evodia sauveolens, Scheff) as antifungals against Candida albicans ATCC 10 231. The method used in this research is the method of maceration with 96% ethanol solvent followed by solvent n-hexane, chloroform and water. Antifungal activity test performed by dilution method. Concentration of ethanolic extracts and fractions are used 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.2%; 3.1%; 1.5%; 0.7%; 0.3%; 0.1%; 0.09%. The results showed that the ethanolic extract and water fraction has committed a minimum concentration of 25% against Candida albicans ATCC 10231. The fraction of water from ethanolic extracts of leaves zodia has the most active antifungal activity compared to the fraction of n-hexane and chloroform fractions. Keywords: leaves zodia (Evodia sauveolens, Scheff), Candida albicans ATCC 10 231, antifungal.
