Abstract

Acute diarrhea is diarrhea that is symptomatic onset of symptoms and lasts less than 14 days characterized by a watery defecate more than 3 times a day. Diarrhea medications can provide side effects and drug interactions, so the need for rational use of drugs. This study aims to determine the accuracy of the use of antidiarrheal drugs in children suffering from acute diarrhea based on the standard of WGO and the presence or absence of drug interaction events. The method used in this research is non-experimental descriptive, with retrospective data retrieval from medical records of patients with acute diarrhea in children. The data used were age, sex, drug use, dose number and duration of treatment. The data collected by 80 patients were then grouped based on indicators of indication accuracy, patient accuracy, drug accuracy, dosage accuracy, analyzed compared with WGO guidelines and the presence or absence of drug interactions The result of the research showed that the most patient profile was 49 male (61,25%), 1-4 years old (38,5%), 3-4 days duration (72 children) 90 %). The percentage of accurate use of antidiarrheal in children with acute diarrhea based on WGO standard showed that 100% accuracy of indication, 100% patient accuracy, 71,43% accuracy of drug, 57,14% dose accuracy and drug interaction occurrence in 28 patients (35%).
