Abstract
Degenerative disease is one of the major problem in the world. Efforts to prevent degenerative diseases can be done by consuming nutraceutical. Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) is a plant commonly used as food, and the leaf is frequently used as traditional medicine. Breadfruit leaves contain a wide range of phytochemical components. The purpose of this study is determine the potential of antioxidants from fresh breadfruit leaf tea, dried breadfruit leaf tea, and breadfruit teabag that is often consumed by the community. Antioxidant potency of breadfruit leaf tea can be research using DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) and routine as comparison. The data were treated using a linear regression equation to obtain an IC50 value (an effective concentration for capturing 50% free radical DPPH). The results of breadfruit leaf tea have medium antioxidant activity based on IC50 values of 168,30 μg / ml ± 0.99 (fresh breadfruit leaf tea), 121,69 μg / ml ± 2.66 (dried breadfruit leaf tea), and 135,69 μg / ml ± 0.86 (breadfruit teabag). From this research it can be concluded that the best antioxidant potency from the three sample is dry breadfruit leaf tea with IC50 121,69 μg / ml ± 2.66. Keywords: Breadfruit leaf tea, IC50, DPPH
