Angsana has several chemical constituents that can be used as a herbal plant, among these flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols, tannins, and volatile oil. Angsana leaf is one plant that used for the treatment of diabetic. This study was aimed to determine antidiabetic activity of etanolic extract angsana leaf, determine the extract dose which affect on blood glucose level and determine the effect increased in dose of antidiabetic activity rats by alloxan induction. The method used alloxan diabetic. Test animal were divided into five groups, consists of five male white rats : Group I negative control (CMC 0,5%), Group II drug control (glibenclamide) at a dose of 0.09 mg/200 g BB rats, and Group III, IV, V given doses of etanolic extract angsana leaf 15 mg/200 g BB rats, 30 mg/200 g BB rats, 60 mg/200 g BB rats. All groups alloxan induced on day 0 (after fasting 16 hours) intraperitoneally. Examination of blood sugar levels performed on days 3, 6, 19 and 12 after administration of the test preparation. The results showed etanolic extract angsana leaf has antidiabetic activity. The etanolic extract angsana leaf affect by lowers blood glucose level with an effective dose of 30 mg/200 g BB. The greater the dose of etanolic extract angsana leaf (15 mg/200 g BB rats, 30 mg/200 g BB rats, 60 mg/200 g BB rats) nothing with increased antidiabetic effect in significantly.
