Abstract

Starch are additives that are commonly used in the manufacture of tablets, and one of them as a disintegrant. This study was aimed to determine the effect of jackfruit seed starch as an ingredient pregelatinized disintegrant on the physical properties of ibuprofen tablets and tablet dissolution profiles. This study used three formulas containing jackfruit seed starch pregelatinized 100 mg, 150 mg, and 200 mg plus a control formula. The result of the mixture was tested for the physical properties of granular flow time. The tablets were compressed with direct method with an average total weight of 500 mg. The tablets produced were tested for the weight uniformity, hardness, friability, disintegration time and dissolution profile. The test results showed that the formula containing starch pregelatinized jackfruit seeds produced flow time, hardness, friability of tablets, and disintegration time in accordance with the requirements. Dissolution test on all formulations met the requirements of 70% at 30 minutes. Key words: Jackfruit seeds pregelatinized starch, disintegrant, dissolution
