Abstract
Paracetamol is a pain and fever reliever that circulates freely on the market. This allows excessive use of paracetamol which is thought to cause liver damage. Efforts to reduce the effects of paracetamol overdose require a hepatoprotector such as garlic. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of garlic extract (Allium sativum Linn) as a hepatoprotector on the activity of the enzyme Serum Glutamic Piruvic Transaminase (SGPT) in White Rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Paracetamol. The method used is pure experimental research with experiments in vivo. The subjects of this study were 24 male Wistar rats aged 2-3 months with a body weight of 150200grams. Before the treatment of white mice was adapted for 7 days, then white mice were divided into 4 groups randomly. Group A (control), Group B, C, and D with a dose of garlic extract sequentially 0.10 g / 200 g BB, 0.15 g / 200 g BB, 0.20 g / 200 g BB for 7 days. On the 8th day, all white rats were examined for SGPT (pre-test), on day 9-15 were given garlic extract on the 16th day given paracetamol induction then the 17th day was examined by SGPT (post test). The research site was conducted at the UGM Yogyakarta Postgraduate and Nutrition Intermediate Center (PAU) Laboratory and was launched in June-July 2018. ANOVA test results showed a significant difference between the dose of garlic extract and SGPT activity of rats (p <0.05). Post-hoc test found that between groups A, B, C, and D there were significant differences in all groups. From this study concluded that the administration of garlic extract (Allium sativum Linn) dose of 0.10 g / 200 g BB had a hepatoprotector effect on the activity of SGPT in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Giving garlic extract (Allium sativum Linn) dose of 0.15 g / 200 g BB effect as hepatoprotector on the activity of SGPT of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Giving extract of garlic (Allium sativum Linn) dose of 0.20 g / 200 g BB has a hepatoprotector effect on SGPT activity of white rats (Rattusnorvegicus).
