Abstract

Diuretics are substances that can increase the production of urine (diuresis) by working directly on the kidneys. carrot leaf (Daucus carota L.) contains flavonoid compounds that can be used as a diuretic. The purpose of this research is to know that the extract of carrot leaf ethanol and water fraction of carrot leaf have diuretic effect. Determine the most effective dose that can have a diuretic effect on male rats wistar strain. Carrot leaf (Daucus carota L.) was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent followed by fractionation. Diuretic tests were performed with ethanol extract and water fraction. Diuretic test using 30 rats divided into 6 groups, each group consists of 5 rats. Group I negative control group II positive control, group III carrot leaf extract dose 0.3g/kgBB, group IV water fraction dose 0.3g/kgBB, group V fraction water dose 0.6g/kgBB, group VI water fraction dose 1.2g/kgBB. The results showed that ethanol extract and water fraction of carrot leaf can give diuretic effect. At dose of carrot leaf extract with dose 0,3g/kgBB give effect of diuretic lower than fraction of water of leaf of carrot. Water fraction of carrot leaf 1.2g/kgBB has more optimal diuretic effect.
