Abstract
Brotowali stems and mango leaves are medicinal plants that can used for treatment of diabetes mellitus. The study was aimed to know the effects combination of brotowali stem extract and mango leaves extract, and effective dosage of both extracts in male white mice as antidiabetics with glucose tolerance method. Test animals were divided in 7 groups, the first group is given CMC as control negative, the second group is given glibenklamid 0,65 mg/kg bw, the third group is given brotowali stem extract with a dose 350 mg/kg bb, the fourth group is given mango leaves extract wit a dose 420 mg/kg bb, the fifth, sixth, and the seventh given the combination of brotowali stems and mango leaves in 87,5 mg : 315 mg (25% : 75%), 175 mg : 210 mg (50%:50%), dan 262,5 mg : 105 mg (75% : 25%). All the group given a solution of glucose 50%. The result show that combination brotowali stems extract ang mango leaves can decreased blood glucose level, group treatment single not showing different with a combination treatment. A combination of brotowali stems extract and mango leaves (25% : 75%), (50% : 50%), (75% : 25%) have a similiar effect with single glibenklamid in decrease blood glucose level.
