Abstract

Antibioticsarechemical substancesproducedbyfungiandbacteria, whichhas a propertyto exterminate orinhibit the growth ofbacteria, whileits toxicityto humansis relativelysmall. Althoughantibioticshave manybenefits, butits use hascontributed to theresistance, in addition tomanyside effectsandthe high price ofdrugsare also factors. WHOandseveralorganizationshaveissued a statementabout theimportance ofstudying factorsassociatedwiththe problem. This studyaims to describethequantityof antibioticusein outpatientsofRSUD Prof Dr W.Z JohannesKupang This studyisa descriptive studywithretrospectivedata collection.Sourcesof dataobtainedfromsearchofoutpatientprescriptionsin Octoberup toDecember2013.Quantity ofantibiotic usein thelastcountinpersentageandcomparedwithrecomemendations ofWHO. The results indicatethat thelevel ofantibiotic usein outpatientswas22.49% whichis still belowthe WHOrecommendation.Quinolones group is the most widely used followed by cephalosporins and beta-lactams.Averageantibiotic combinationused is2in1prescriptionandtheuse ofthe most isthroughoral.
