Abstract

Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) flower is beneficial to be antioxidant, antihypertensive, anticancer, anti-depressive, antibiotic, aphrodisiac and diuretic agents. The extract of rosella flower is assumed can be made the cream. The rosella flower extract is made in various concentrations so that a high-quality cream is produced. The preparation of rosella flower extract cream was conducted using cream preparation method with M/A type. The rosella flower extract cream in this research employed a variety of different concentrations: formula 1 (2.5%), formula 2 (5%) and formula 3 (7.5%). The cream was tested for its physical quality and preparation stability. The physical quality testing included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH examination, distribution, and cream type tests, while for stability test, the cream was observed for a month. Then the data was analyzed statistically using a one-way Anova with SNK test at confidence interval of 95%. The result of research showed that rosella flower could be made the cream preparation meeting the conditions of physical quality and preparation stability. _________________________________________________________________ Keywords: cream, rosella flower, rosella flower extract, M/A type cream.
