Abstract

Moringa leaf is a herbaceous plant which empirically its leaf are used to treat hepatitis. Tomato is a crop landing fruit which has been proven to protect liver in previous experiment by Weremfo et al. Had been conducted research to see hepatoprotective effects of Moringa oleifera Lamk. and Solanum lycopersicum L. combinations in white male mice wistar strain which induced with paracetamol. This study was aimed to determine effect of fresh extract combinations of moringa leaf and tomato to SGPT and SGOT levels activity in white male mice wistar strain which induced paracetamol and determine optimal dose in protecting liver from damage which seen in SGPT and SGOT levels. This study were used 35 white male mice wistar strain which divided into 7 groups of K, K-, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5. Normal control (K) is normal group which only given feed and drink orally. Negative control (C-) is group which given paracetamol dose 10.8 mg/200g BB. Groups P1, P2, P3 fresh extract combinations of tomato and Moringa leaf with dose ratio 75% : 25%, 50% : 50%, 25% : 75%. P3 was single dose fresh extract of tomato 100% and P4 was single dose fresh extract of Moringa leaf 100%. Effective dose of Moringa leaf which used were 0.036 mg/200 gBB, and effective dose of tomato was 11 g/200 gBB. Results obtained from this study were fresh extract combinations of Moringa leaf and tomato with dose ratio of tomato and Moringa leaf of 75% : 25%, 50% : 50%, 25% : 75%, fresh extract of tomato 100%, and fresh extract of Moringa leaf 100% were given orally for 7 days can protect liver from damage. The result of fresh extract of Moringa leaf 100% was the best dose as liver protector from damage. Keywords : Moringa leaf, Tomato, SGPT, SGOT, hepatoprotective
