Abstract

The manufacture tablets use a dry granulation method with a comparison of the various ratio Na alginate (A) and HPMC K15M (B) with a model simplex lattice design. F1 (100% A), F2 (75% A: 25% B), F3 (50% A: 50% B), F4 (25% A: 75% B), and F5 (100% B). Each tablet contains 20 mg nifedipine with a total weight of 250 mg and tested physical properties of granules and tablets as well as the dissolution test. The flow time, hardness, power of mucoadhesive, and DE360 as a parameter of optimum formula are processed with Design Expert software version 8.0. The results of the research to the time flow of interactions between Na alginate and HPMC K15M can improve the flow time, reduce the hardness, increase the mucoadhesive, and improved of drug release. The proportion of the optimum formula Na alginate obtained at 10.00 to 33.75 mg and HPMC K15M 36.25 to 60.00 mg. Dissolution of results showed that combination from Na alginate and HPMC K15M can be improve drug release. The kinetics of drug release followed zero order release Higuchi model. Verification of the optimum formula obtained on the 21 mg of Na alginate and HPMC K15M 49 mg showed no significant differences between the data predicted by the experiments on the optimum parameters are used.
