Abstract

The success of educational institution to reach national building needs the teachers’ role as the subjects. Teachers who work in an educational institution are expected to have commitment that they will influence their working ethos in the institution. One keys of the successfulness lies on the leader. Woman Principle who is able to apply leadership’s pattern which is suitable to reach the organization goal can be categorized as the effective leader. Positive perceptions towards the leader will make the teachers actively involved in the institution, on the other hand, negative perceptions towards the leader will make the teachers unpleasant. It can be seen in their undisciplined behavior, high rate of absence and desire to resign. The hypothesis that is proposed in this research is: there is positive correlation between perceptions towards woman leadership with the teachers’ commitment in the educational institution. The more positive the perceptions towards the woman leadership, the higher the teachers’ commitment to the educational institution, the more negative perceptions, the lower the commitment will be expressed towards the institution. The subject of this research is the teachers of Sekolah Dasar Negeri Cemara Dua which is lead by Woman Principle. The data gathering uses scaling. The scales that are applied are Commitment Scale and Perception Scale towards Woman Leadership. The data analysis uses correlation test by applying SPSS for windows release 17.0. The result shows correlated co-efficient (r) 0.449 with p= 0.001 (p<0.01) between commitment variable and perceptions variable towards woman leadership. Based on the result, the hypothesis can be accepted significantly. In short, there is positive correlation between Perceptions towards Woman Leadership with the Teachers’ Commitment in the Educational Intitution.
