Abstract
Pandanus conoideus Lam is a herbal plant good as anticancer, antidiabetic, antihypertension, and antioxidant. This research was aimed to know the antioxidant activity of water fraction, aethyl acetate fraction, chloroform fraction, and n-hexane fraction methanolic extract of Pandanus conoideus Lam, against radical 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The fruit of Pandanus conoideus Lam content flavonoid, terpenoid, poliphenol, and alkaloid compound were extracted with methanol by maceration method. Methanolic Extract was concentrated and then suspended in water, aethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane to produce water, aethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane fraction. The antioxidant activity from water, aethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane fraction were done by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging method. These activities were compared with ascorbic acid as positive control. Water, aethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane fraction with the consentration of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 µg / ml. The research is done with the reading of absorbance with spectrophotometer after 30 minute. The water, aethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane fractions methanolic extract of Pandanus conoideus showed antioxidant activity against DPPH with an IC50 value of 534.26 ± 9.27 µg / ml; 150.21 ± 3.76 µg / ml; 1662.70 ± 81.71 µg / ml; and 2139.25 ± 44.09 µg / ml and ascorbic acid 2.26 ± 0.1039 µg / ml. Water fraction, aethyl acetate fraction, chloroform fraction, n-hexane fraction, and ascorbic acid had a significant different.
