Abstract
Cholesterol is one component of fat and cholesterol as an important component in performing brain and nervous functions. Cholesterol is a fat produced by the liver and plays an important role in maintaining body functions, but cholesterol can interfere with health when there is too much in the body. Saturated fatty acids are the triggers of elevated cholesterol levels in the blood. Food containing saturated fat such as butter , fried, cheese, coconut oil , hydrogenated solid fats such as margarine , meat and fat. This study aims to determine the correlation of consumption saturated fat foods to cholesterol level in students blood. This research type is explanative research with cross sectional research design. There were 36 students as samples for this research, where the data obtained by using questionnaires and examination of cholesterol levels. The results showed that the asymp.sig column is 0.887 or probability > 0.05 then H 0 is accepted and H1 is rejected, so it can be concluded there is no correlation between saturated fat consumption and cholesterol in blood at University Students Setia Budi.
