Abstract

White pomegranate peel (Punica granatum L.) and mary gold leave (Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray) is a plant that can be used as an antifungal against Candida albicans. This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of single ethanolic extract of white pomegranate peel and mary gold leave as well as a combination against Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Extraction method used in this research is a method of maceration with 96% ethanol. Test antifungal activity against Candida albicans done dilution and diffusion by using single and combined ethanolic extract (1:1, 1:2, 2:1). Dilution method using serial dilutions of 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.13%, 1.56%, 0.78%, 0.39%, and 0.20%. Diffusion method with a concentration of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and control positive ketokonazole 0,2%. The results of this study it can be concluded that the combination of ethanolic extract of white pomegranate peel (Punica granatum L.) and ethanolic extract of mary gold (Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray) can not increase the antifungal activity against Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Ethanolic extract of white pomegranate peel (Punica granatum L.) in the singular have the best antifungal activity against Candida albicans with Kill Minimum Concentration (MBC) at a concentration of 3,13% with dilution method.
