Abstract
Turi Leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L.) has long been known by the Indonesian as a traditional medicine, the plant is from Fabaceae family. The research objective was to determine the antifungal activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction of ethanolic extract of turi leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L) against Candida albicans and Phytyrosporum ovale fungi as well as the inhibition zone diameter and which is more effective. Testing of antifungal activity using the diffusion method, in which the test solution of turi leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L) made dilution series 12.5% ; 6.25%, 3.125% and placed on the surface of SGA media which applied suspension of fungal test. The result showed that the fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction of ethanolic extract of turi leaves (Sesbania grandiflora L) has antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Phytyrosporum ovale fungi. The fraction concentration which the most effective inhibiting the fungi growth was 12.5% with Inhibition Zone diameter of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction against Candida albicans were 43.66 mm, 42.66 mm, and 40.66 mm, while the Phytyrosporum ovale were 39.66 mm, 38.66 mm, 36.33 mm, respectively.
