Abstract
Seligi leaves (Phyllanthus buxifolius Muell.Arg.) contain phenolics compounds that are potent as antioxidant. Antioxidants are compounds that are important in protecting the body from negatives effects of free radicals. Directly used of seligi leaves as an antioxidant considered less efficient, so it needs to do a more appropriate development. One of development efforts performed is making the pike leaves extract in cream dosage form. The study was aimed to find out the antioxidant activity of seligi leaves extract in cream dosage form againts DPPH free radical stated in IC50 value. Seligi leaves simplicia were extracted by maceration method with methanol for 5 days, and then was made in cream dosage form with vanishing cream basic in variation of seligi leaves extract concentration i.e. 0.06%, 0.12%, 0.24%. The antioxidant activity of the obtained extract was tested with DPPH (1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil) method. The antioxidant activity was measured with spectrofotometer at 517 nm wavelenght after 30 minutes and then the IC50 value was determined. The positive control used was Rutin. The result of study showed that seligi leaves had the best antioxidants activity in formula II extract concentration 0.12% at week-4 with IC50 value 13.133%; while rutin for comparison had IC50 value 9,656%.
