Abstract

Pakis haji leaves (Cycas rumpii Miq) is one of the plants contain flavonoids, saponins, and polyphenols that are potent as antioxidant.. The human body can produces an antioxidant compounds, but the mounts are often not sufficient to neutralize free radicals enter the body. The study was aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of n-hexan, ethyl acetate, water fractions, and ethanolik extrac pakis haji leaves to DPPH free radical stated in IC50 value. Pakis haji leaves were extracted by maceration method with ethanol 70% for 5 days, and then was made n-hexan, ethyl acetate, and water fractions.The results of fracsinations was tested with DPPH (1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil) method. The antioxidant activity was measured with spectrofotometer at 515 nm wavelenght after 30 minutes and then the IC50 value was determined. The positive control used was quersetine. The result of study showed that all three fractions and ethanolik extrac has antioxidant activity, with the active fractions was ethyl acetate fraction with IC50 value was 13,986 µg/ml, ethanol extrac with value was 24,758 µg/ml, water fraction value was 58,975 µg/ml, and n-hexan fraction value was 144,322 µg/ml. Ability to reduce DPPH by the ethanol extract and tree fractions were allegedly due to pakis haji leaves contain phenolic compounds which could reduce the DPPH radical.
