Abstract

Zodia (Evodia suaveolens, Scheff) is a plant that contains essential oils in the leaves. The oil distilled from the leaves of this plant contain linalool (46%) and a-pinene (13.26%), linalool itself known as a mosquito repellent. This study was aimed to determine the repelan of zodia leaves against Culex quinquefasciatus. Distillation method of essential oil of zodia leaf was done by steam distillation method. The distillation result of essential oils mix in lotion base which created four concentration series for testing repelan (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%). Then tested on 50 Culex quinquefasciatus, observation was made during 6 hours to see repelan at each concentration. Essential oils of zodia (Evodia suaveolens, Scheff) was seen from the results of protection at each concentration. Preparation of anti-mosquito lotion brand X was already on the market as a positive control had repelan against mosquitoes.
