Abstract

Hydnophytum formicarum Jack is one of the medicinal plants were identified that may be potentially and as a new source for antimicrobial and antioxidant therapy. Compound content of ant nests bulbs are flavonoids, tannins and polyphenols. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the root extract ointment ant nest with a hydrocarbon base has antibacterial activity in vivo against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 rabbits in animals. Ethyl acetate extract of tuber anthill extracted by maceration method, extract ointment made with hydrocarbon base with a concentration of 12.5%, 25%, 50% and 75%. Ointment applied once daily on the wound until it heals observations performed with the loss of dried pus and sores. Results of this study indicate that the tuber extract ointment ant concentration of 12.5%; 25%; 50% and 75% has antibacterial activity. Root extract ointment ant is the most effective ointment with a concentration of 75%. Keywords : Hydnophytum formicarum Jack, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, ethyl acetate, maceration, ointment.
