Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease cause is signed with hyperglicemia was associated with metabolism abnormality of carbohydrate, fat and protein. Be based on research was reported that oyong seeds (Luffa acutangula L. Roxb) consist of cucurbitacin who have antidiabetic effect. This research aims to know antidiabetic effect of oyong seeds infuse in combination with metformin and glibenclamide on diabetic mice was induced alloxan. Diabetic animals model were conducted by induction of alloxan monohidrat dose of 100 mg/ kg bw. The test group divided into ten groups which were treated with: negative control (aquadest), 0,013 mg/ 20 g bw glibenclamide, 1,3 mg/ 20 g bw metformin, 0,4 ml/ 20 g bw oyong seeds infuse, combination of glibenclamide-oyong seeds infuse (0,75:0,25, 0,50:0,50, 0,25:0,75), and combination of metformin-oyong seeds infuse (0,75:0,25, 0,50:0,50, 0,25:0,75). The levels of blood glucose were examined on day 0, 1st, 4th, 8th. The result data were analyzed by one way Anova (p < 0,05). The result showed combination of glibenclamide-oyong seeds infuse and combination of metformin-oyong seeds infuse could decrease blood glucose level effect in mice Balb/c. Combination of glibenclamide-oyong seeds infuse (0,75:0,25, 0,50:0,50, 0,25:0,75) have a similiar effect with single glibenclamide and combination of metformin-oyong seeds infuse (0,75:0,25 and 0,25:0,75) have a similiar effect with single metformin in decrease blood glucose level.
