Abstract

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Bl.) is a plant that can be used in various treatments. Cinnamon family is Lauraceae contain essential oils. This study aimed to examine the effects of subchronic toxicity and determine the effect of dose of cinnamon oil on the biochemical changes in the levels of creatinine and histopathological picture of the male white rat kidneys. The method used was water and vapor isolation with aqua dest solvent. The oil obtained used for subchronic toxicity test on white male mice with dose of ½ dose was 50 mg / kg BB, 1 dose was 100 mg / kg BB and 2 dose was 200 mg / kg BB for 1 month. The results of this research in provision of cinnamon oil orally for 1 month did not give toxic effects on the white male mice kidneys which seen from the results of creatinine levels and observed from histopathological parameters. The larger the dose of cinnamon essential oil has no toxic effects were greater in the kidneys also white male rats.
