Abstract
Infection is the presence of an organism in body tissue or liquid accompanied with clinical symptoms, either locally or systemically. Urine is the specimen of inactive Escherichia coli isolate, the highest volume of clinical specimen studied. The objective of research was to find out the sensitivity pattern of amoxicillin, cotrimoxazol, ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin antibiotics against the Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli bacterium was isolated from the urine of inpatients in Dr. Moewardi Local General Hospital using Endo Agar media. The sensitivity test was conducted to find out the resistibility of each antibiotics and to find out the sensitivity pattern of antibiotics against Escherichia coli bacterium. The data of antibiotic resistibility diameter was processed using one-way ANOVA statistic test. The result of research showed that out of 30 samples, 23 samples contained Escherichia coli. Amoxicillin, cotrimoxazol, ceftriaxon and ciprofloxacin were 100% sensitive to Escherichia coli bacterium. ciprofloxacin was the most effective antibiotic to cure the urethra infection caused by Escherichia coli bacterium. __________________________________________________________________ Keywords: infection, Escherichia coli, antibiotic
