Abstract

Herbaceous Kate mas Euphorbia heterophylla L. is one of the traditional medicine that is used contains flavonoids, tannins and saponins. Flavonoids can be used to lower triglycerides and total cholesterol. The purpose of this study is the effect of decreasing the levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol blood serum of 70% ethanol extract of rat herbaceous kate mas Euphorbia heterophylla L. were administered orally to male rats. Test animals were divided into 5 groups each consisting of 5 rats. Normal control group I, negative control group II were given distilled water. Positive control group III given simvastatin. Group IV-VIII were given the dose variation dose of 100 mg / 200 g BB, 200 mg / 200 g BB, 400 mg / 200 g BB, 600 mg/ 200 g BB, 800 mg/ 200 g BB. Test animals were given lard for one week until the state of hypercholesterolemia, and then given a test preparation ethanolic herbal extracts kate mas until day 21. The results obtained in this study is 70% ethanol extract kate mas herbaceous Euphorbia heterophylla L. were given orally can reduce levels of serum triglycerides and total cholesterol blood white male rats. Based on the results of one way ANOVA statistical test followed by Duncan showed that 70% ethanol extract of herbaceous kate mas Euphorbia heterophylla L. dose of 800 mg / 200 g BW as lowering levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol blood serum of white male rats.
