Abstract

Soil Transmitted Helminths are worms that need soil for their growth. The contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths can be found in lettuce vegetables. Lettuce is a plant whose leaves grow in a sitting position on the ground. The purpose of this study was to determine the contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths in Lettuce vegetables sold by kebab street vendors in the Mojosongo Village and Jebres Village in Surakarta City by immersion treatment of 0,2% NaOH solution for 1 hour. The design of this study is observational analytic research with Cross Sectional approach. Sample identification could be done by immersing the sample in 0,2% NaOH solution for 1 hour using the sedimentation method. Immersion is done so that worm eggs can settle. The results of this study showed 1 positive sample namely the eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides fertile with a percentage of 3,125% with immersion treatment of 0,2% NaOH solution for 1 hour.
