Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder which can be caused by a variety of etiologies, accompanied with the presence of chronic hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin secretion or impaired insulin work, or both. The study aims to examine and analyze the effect of individual and contextual factors in patients self-confidence. The study design used wasnon-experimental research design with observational approach model by cross-sectional means just taking the research data at a certain time, perhaps as long as daily, weekly, or monthly in order to answer the research questions, to the patients in the Dr. Moewardi Hospital. Sampling technique conducted by purposive sampling which are 100 patients.The data obtained from questionnaires to the respondentwereanalyzedusing deskriptivemethod to determine the relationship between patientsself-confidence in knowledge of disease prevention, and health behavior in the case study of diabetes mellitus. The results of Hierarchical Regression Analysis was individual factor shows the value of β = 0.369 with the level of significance p <0.05, so it could be concluded that the individual factor had positive effect on the self-confidenceof diabeticpatients to the health information search needed.On the contextual factor, obtained result β = 0.406 with the level of significance p<0.05, so it could be concluded that thecontextual factor had no positive effect of the self-confidenceofdiabeticpatients to the health information search needed.
