Abstract
Infectious disease is a disease caused by germs or microorganisms that enter the body until symptoms occur. Most infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic bacteria, one of which is Staphylococcus aureus. Infectious diseases can be treated using natural ingredients that have the ability to kill bacteria.Tubers Roots Rock (Coccinia grandis L Voigt) is a herbal medicinal plants that contain saponins, flavonoids, tannins, polyphenols, alkaloids that have properties to kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract of tuber roots of Stone against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Stone Root tuber ethanolic extract obtained by extraction with a maceration method used ethanol 96%. Antibacterial activity testing method using the diffusion method pitting. Stone Root Tuber dilution ethanolic extract Stones created in various concentrations and the use of 2% DMSO diluent. The results of this study indicate ethanolic extract of tuber roots of Stone has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The root tuber Stone ethanolic extract with a concentration of 1 g / ml, 2 g / ml, 3 g / ml, and 4 g / ml has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with an average of inhibitory zone respectively is 18.67 mm, 20.67 mm, 23.33 mm and 27.00 mm. The diameter of the resulting inhibition zone have significant differences. The concentration of 4 g / ml had the greatest inhibition zone among others is 27.00 mm. Ethanolic extracts for antibacterial activity test tuber the greater it is Stone Root extract concentration then can zoom inhibition on Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.
