Abstract

Cervical cancer is the growth of abnormal cells in the cervix caused by Human Papiloma Virus (HPV). The use of hormonal contraception and age of first marriage are two of many factors leading to cervical cancer. The present study aimed to determine the relationship of the use of hormonal contraception and age of first Marriage to cervical cancer in Dr. Moewardi General Hospital Surakarta. This study was cross sectional with total samples 35. This research was conducted in Dr. Moewardi general hospital Surakarta in July - August 2019 applying total sampling method. Data were analyzed using chi square test with significance of 5% or 0.05 and level of confidence 95%. Chi square test obtained p value 0.018 (p < 0.05) with OR (Odds Ratio) 11.900. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship of the use of hormonal contraception and age of first marriage to cervical cancer in Dr. Moewardi general hospital Surakarta and women using hormonal contraception ≥ 5 years and age of first marriage ≤ 20 years old had 11.900 greater chances to suffer from cervical cancer than women who did not use hormonal contraception ≥ 5 years and age of first marriage > 20 years old.
