Abstract
Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val) is a type of traditional plant that has great benefits in maintaining health and treating diseases. One of the benefits is as a raw material for traditional herbal medicine. Society considers that herbal medicine always gives a good effect on body health. The level of consumption of turmeric in the community is often not controlled. This study aims to determine the effects caused by consuming turmeric in the long run. In this study the compound used was turmeric extract. This study used 30 male Wistar strain rats. The treatment group was given turmeric ethanol extract at a dose of 600 mg / KgBB, 700 mg / KgBB, 800 mg / KgBB, 900 mg / KgBB and a dose of 1000 mg / KgBB for 28 days. Urea and Creatinine levels were examined on day 0 and day 28 during the treatment period. The results of this study indicate showed that Urea levels at a dose of 600 mg / KgBB increased by 9%, at a dose of 700 mg / KgBB an increase of 12%, at a dose of 800 mg / KgBB of 13%, at a dose of 900 mg / KgBB an increase of 24% and at a dose of 1000 mg / KgBB an increase of 32%.While Creatinine levels at doses of 600 mg / KgBB and 700 mg / KgBB increased by 17%, at a dose of 800 mg / KgBB an increase of 25%, at a dose of 900 mg / KgBB an increase of 40% and at a dose of 1000 mg / KgBB an increase of 46%. Provision of saffron ethanol extract (Curcuma domestica Val) with multilevel doses was shown to significantly increase the levels of urea and creatinine but still within normal limits.
