Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as a progressive and irreversible renal function abnormality and a final effect of progressively tissue destruction and loss of kidney function. The decrease of kidneys function is commonly followed by anemia. Anemia in CKD patients is caused by several factors such as reduced erythropoietin, shortened lifespan of erythrocytes, and disordered iron homeostatic. The description normally found in patients with CKD is anemia normocytic normochromic showing the symptoms of anxiety, fatigue, and hematocrit levels ranged from 20-25%. This research aims to determine hematological profile of patients with CKD in RSDM Surakarta. This study applied observational descriptive research design with cross sectional approach conducted in March-June 2019. The samples used were secondary data from medical records and LIS in Clinical Pathology Laboratory RSDM Surakarta in December 2018-February 2019 taken from 50 patients with CKD. The data were proceed and presented in table form. The results of study indicate that all patients suffered from anemia with Hb value mean of 8.72 g/dL Ht value of 46 (92%) patients decreased by mean of 27.89% and 49 (98%) patients experienced erythrocytes decreased by mean of 3.27x106 cells/µl. Erythrocytes index value of MCV, MCH, MCHC, and RDW have mean of 85.69fl, 26.83 pg, 31.39% and 17.51% with the most type of anemia is normocytic normochromic. It is necessary to complete patients’ data with the stage of CKD therefore it can be correlated to haematology profile examined. Key word : Chronic kidney disease, hematological profile
