Abstract
Afrika leaf (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) is one kind of new plant used in Indonesia as medication for various type of illness. One of its uses is for antidiabetic. This research conducted on finding out antidislipidemia, antidislipidemia and GLUT-4 translocation from extract and fractions of Afrika leaf on insulin resistance mice. This research was carried out using completely randomized pattern. The creature used as treatment subjects were separated into seven groups consists of five individual each; Group I, subjected as normal control mice which only being given equivalent Na-CMC 1%, group II, as negative controls which fed with HDF and STZ with no further treatment, group III, as positive controls which given metaformin 500 mg/KgBB, group IV, were given ethanol extract 400 mg/KgBB, Group V, n-hexane fraction 100 mg/KgBB, group VI, etile acetate fraction 100 mg/KgBB, group VII, water fraction 100 mg/KgBB. All Groups fed with HFD-STZ for 31 days except the normal group which fed with standard food. Extracts and fractions tests were conducted for as long as 14 days. The result of the studies showed that both, ethanol extract and afrika leaf fractions, were effective on lowering the blood glucose level and also recover lipid profile, also active to GLUT-4 in the soleus muscle cells of the insulin resistance mice DM. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key word: Vernonia amygdalina, antihyperglicemia, antidyslipidemia, insulin resistance, GLUT-4
