Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide is a demipermanent hair dye oxidizing agent which is used to change, fade and reinforce the required color. This study aims to determine the color intensity and safety of hair dye creams with natural extracts of secang wood’s extract with variations in the concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Hair coloring is done on black hair and bleached hair using F1 hair dye cream (negative control), F2 (1% hydrogen peroxide), F3 (3% hydrogen peroxide) and F4 (5% hydrogen peroxide), then color stability test is performed on washing and sunshine. An irritation test was performed on 10 volunteers using the highest concentration of test material (F4). The preference test was conducted on 20 respondents who were asked to choose colored haircuts using hair coloring cream F1, F2, F3 and F4. Physical quality tests were carried out on hair dye formulas before and after cycling tests, the tests carried out included organoleptic tests, viscosity, pH, and dispersion. The results showed that the color produced by hair dyes was less stable against washing and sunlight. Hair dye cream does not causing irritation when used. The most preferred bleached hair coloring results are the coloring results of F2 hair dye (dark red), while the most preferred black hair coloring results are the coloring results of F4 hair dye (dark brown).
