Abstract

Burns are tissue damage that occurs due to contact with heat heat sources (fire, water and electricity). Tembelekan leaves (Lantana camara L.) can be used as an alternative wound healing because it has content such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins. Ointment is a pharmaceutical preparation that is shown for topical use. The purpose of this study to knowing the activity of the preparation and determine the effective concentration of ethanol extract tembelekan leaves on the healing burns. Ethanol extract of tembelekan leaves was made using maceration metode then continued with re-maceration. Ethanol extract of tembelekan leaves made in 3 concentration, formula 5%, 10%, and 20%. Physical quality of ointment was tested organoleptically, pH, dispersion, viscosity, and adhesion. Healing burn activity test made on the back of new zealand rabbits. The results measurements of healing burn activity were analyzed statistically using two way anova. Statistical analysis using two way anova showed that 20% ethanol extract tembelekan leaves had a significant difference with negative control (base ointment) with sig value 0,009 <0,05.The meanings ethanol exract of tembelekan leaves with a concentration of 20% has effective healing of burns.
