Abstract
Carrots are horticulture crops that are consumed daily, contain many vitamins and minerals that contribute improving health. Carrots have metallic lead (Pb) that is naturally in the earth's crust and spread into nature through air pollution, motor vehicle fumes, water, and pesticides that contaminate the soil so that it can accumulate. This study aims to determine the content of lead metal (Pb) the carrots in Tawangmangu and Boyolali area. This study using atomic absorption spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 283.3 nm. There are 4 samples used,carrots sample A from Boyolali (elevation ± 1.700 masl); carrots sample B from Boyolali (elevation ± 900 masl); carrots sample C from Tawangmangu (elevation ± 1.700 masl); and carrot sample D from Tawangmangu (elevation ± 800 masl). Sample preparation is done by wet digestion using concentrated acid is HCl and HNO3. Results from the study showed that the levels of heavy lead metals (Pb) in the sample A was not detected; the B sample of 2.1391 mg/kg; sample C of 2.7799 mg/kg; and sample D of 3.2375 mg/kg. Based on the results of the sample A was not detected. Sample B, sample C, and sample D levels exceed the quality standard requirements SNI Number 7387: 2009 that the limit of heavy metal contamination in fruit and vegetables amounted to ≤ 0.5 mg / kg.
