Abstract
Red spinach leaves (Amaranthus tricolor L) is one of the plants that functions as an antioxidant that is very strong because of the high flavonoid compounds. Cream is a semi-solid dosage form containing one or more dissolved or dispersed medicinal ingredients into the appropriate base material. The purpose of this study was to determine whether red spinach extract (Amaranthus tricolor L.) can be formulated into an antioxidant cream preparation with a variety of extract concentrations. The cream was formulated with variations of F1 extract (2%), F2 (2.5%), F3 (3%), F4 (positive control) containing vitamin E, F5 (negative control). Physical testing of the preparation included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, dispersion, adhesion, cream type, and frezee and thaw. The absorbance data was used to measure IC50. The results of the data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA with a 95% confidence level. The antioxidant activity test results showed IC50 formula 1, formula 2, formula 3, formula 4, formula 5 respectively 31,187 ppm, 30,935 ppm, 29,522 ppm, 10,382 ppm, 257,462 ppm. Formula 3 is a formula of antioxidant cream preparation of red spinach leaf extract (Amaranthus tricolor L) which has the best activity against antioxidants by DPPH. There are differences in physical stability in each antioxidant cream formula of red spinach leaf extract (Amaranthus tricolor L). Keywords: red spinach leaves, antioxidants, creams, DPPH
